So you have tons of coloring book for yourself or kids and you have no idea how to organize it? i get it. There’s just something about coloring that brings a sense of calm and creativity into our lives. However, with so many books piling up, it can be hard to keep them organized and easy to access when you want to color.
With all the coloring fun, comes the ever-looming problem of organizing your coloring book collection.
So I’ve been rummaging through piles of dusty coloring books, searching for that one picture I wanted to color and share on Instagram, So, after one too many frustrating digging sessions, I decided it was time to take control of the chaos once and for all.
Good news i did, I discovered some awesome organization solutions that have totally transformed the way I store (and enjoy!) my beloved collection.
So,in this post, I’m excited to share my top tips and tricks for organizing your coloring book collection with you. Grab your favorite colored pencils and let’s get started!

1. Sort Your Coloring Books by Category
First things first, let’s get those books sorted!
Everyone has different preferences, but for me, it helps to categorize my books based on theme, artist, or even the type of coloring (i.e., mandalas, animals, patterns, etc.). This allows me to quickly locate the perfect book to match my current mood or inspiration.
To help in categorizing your coloring books, I can’t recommend enough these lovely adhesive labels, which will not only keep your collection organized, but also add a touch of personal charm.
If you are a mama like me you probably have your kids coloring books to worry about too . No problem! I’ve found that organizing their books by age range or difficulty level is the most effective way to quickly find a suitable book for their little hands.
2. Choose Storage Solutions that Suit Your Space and Style
Now, let’s talk storage. Depending on your available space and personal style, the storage options for your coloring books are practically endless. Here are some of my favorites:
- Wire Baskets: Stylish and easily accessible, these stackable wire baskets have quickly become my go-to storage solution for slim volumes and small spaces. Plus, they’re perfect for showing off your collection!
- Bookshelves: If you have the room, consider investing in a dedicated bookcase (or repurposing an old one) for a stunning visual display of your coloring books. This elegant ladder-style bookshelf immediately caught my eye; it’s an amazing addition to any creative workspace.
- Portable Carry Cases: Perfect for on-the-go coloring, these zippered carry cases are ideal for storing and transporting a curated selection of your favorite coloring books and supplies.
3. Keep Your Coloring Supplies Handy and Organized
Of course, no coloring book collection would be complete without coloring supplies. To keep those pencils, markers, and crayons readily available (yet neatly tucked away) try:
- Pencil Wraps: Just snap up one these beautiful canvas pencil wraps and marvel as your chaotic mess of coloring pencils is transformed into a neatly organized masterpiece!
- Marker Stands: If you have a large collection of markers, investing in a stand or carousel will make finding the perfect shade a breeze. Plus, it looks super cool on your desk!
- Coloring Caddies: For an all-in-one solution, try storing your coloring books and supplies in a portable caddy. This is especially helpful if you like to move around your workspace or color in different areas of the house.

After you’ve finally conquered the seemingly impossible task of organizing your coloring book collection, it’s important to devise a system to keep it that way. Trust me, you don’t want to find yourself in this mess again.
Here are some tips to help maintain your organized collection:
- Every time you purchase a new coloring book, immediately assign it to a designated spot.
- Regularly flip through your collection and clear out books that no longer bring you joy or satisfaction.
